Family Home Evening

I saw this cute idea on a number of blogs leading up to Easter. Our finished product did not look like those done by those online families but I think the kids got the idea :). We talked about the resurrection. We rolled out our Rhodes roll dough (linen) and added melted butter (anointing oil) and cinnamon and sugar (spices used to prepare Christ's body for burial). We then put a marshmallow (Christ's body) in the middle. We pulled up the sides of the dough around the marshmallow and pinched the sides. Then off our masterpieces went to the Oven (tomb) on 350 for 12-13 minutes. They were supposed to open up a bit so you could see that the marshmallow had evaporated and the tomb was empty. Our tombs did not open up but once we tore into them, they were hollow on the inside. So, it was not "picture perfect" but they were YUMMY and the kids got the idea. We will for sure do this next year! I found this snazzy idea at Being LDS
The Rolling phase went well.
Italia and Ainsley hoped some meditation would bring some "good energy" to help guarantee success.

In the tomb and almost ready to go
Look! The marshmallow is gone!

  1. Do you have a recipe for those rolls? They look good. I love your family. And you and Brian are such good examples to us.
