Starvation Reservoir

For my Mom's 60th Birthday, the kids got together and rented a boat and jet ski's for a fun day out. She grew up boating alot and we went a few times a year when I was a teenager but it had been a while and she has been itching to get out.

I must say, it has been at least 10 years since she was up on ski's but we still gave her a "10" for form. It was a FUN day and all the kids loved the water.

Isaac and Ainsley both attempted to water ski. Ainsley popped right up but then promptly sat herself right down. She said there was water in her eyes so she figured if she sat down it would stop. Had she stayed up a second longer she would have been in the clear. Ainsley looks like a reserved, sweet little girl, which is true but she is also one big fireball! She will try practically anything and has very little fear. Brian also impressed us all with a few new tricks.

The day was beautiful until about 2:00 in the afternoon, that is when the real adventure began. Our whole family except Acacia had gone out on the boat with Stacie, Sadie, Nate, Nicole, Scott and my Mom when the sky got real dark, real fast. Ainsley was in the water getting ready to ski when things changed so we decided to bring her in and Brian would ski back to the dock. Before long we changed our minds and brought him into the boat also.

A gigantic storm was upon us with wind and hail the size of marbles. Ainsley and Italia were huddled on the ground of the boat and everyone was hanging on for dear life. Nate was a great driver under pressure. The boat was swaying all over the place but he got us back pretty quick. The kids and I jumped out and headed for cover which happened to be a bathroom. We hunkered in there for about 10 minutes until things slowed down. Italia found the weather so relaxing that she fell asleep over my shoulder. Once it was safe, we headed back to camp and found a huge mess. I wish I had a before and after photo of the beach because it looked like a tornado hit.

Our "EZ Up" had flown into the water before blowing down the beach. We retrieved it but it was broken. Everything else was strewn all over the place. Jeff and Stacie had grabbed Ella and Acacia who had been sleeping and ran them up to the safety of a car and even though she was safe, Acacia was fit to be tied. We spent the next hour looking for our personal belongings and emptying sand out of everything we owned. The clean up was a hassle but the experience is a memory that nobody will ever forget. So, Happy 60th Mom! We didn't want you to forget a thing!!
